Cornelius the Crab watercolor

So this past weekend is typically the unofficial start of summer – Memorial Day!

Hope everyone had a fun and relaxing holiday. For me it was a day off from the day job which is always something I look forward to. Since the pool is now open the grandboys had christened the pool as we start off the season. I love that they enjoy swimming and splashing around. Always looking for those water pistols!

I’ve spent most of the weekend preparing for the art event next weekend at the Madison Tea Room in Madison Georgia. We will have 10 local artists sharing their newest work including collage, watercolor, acrylic, oils, encaustic and photography. The Madison Tea Room is North America’s largest tea room situated in the heart of Madison on the Town Park. If you are local to Georgia I hope you can take some time to stop by and visit us. The art show & sale will be on Friday & Saturday June 3rd & 4th from 11am – 4pm.

So to celebrate the onset of summer I have designed a set of 4 note cards, all from original watercolors. All of the designs remind me of bright, light summer fun. The cards are blank inside so you can write you own special note to just say “hello” or “thanks”.

And for all of my special readers, yes, that’s you –  I will be giving away a set of cards – just because!  All you have to do is leave a comment here on my blog and I will pick a winner at random after the event next weekend.  Let me know what is your favorite part of summer!

One of my favorite summer things is sitting on the porch swing (ideally with a loved one) watching nature. Mmmmmmmm…..

The crab and hummingbird paintings are my favorites. So glad to see you have them in the same set. Good luck with your art event this weekend. Too far from Georgia to stop by, but if I were closer . . .

This gift card idea is a fabulous one. I’ve seen other artists do this and have supported them with purchases when I can. Had no idea you had a “day job”. Here’s hoping your artist talents allow you an entrepreneurial lifestyle soon :-).

Your hummingbird! Glorious. My favourite part of summer? Hmm. That has changed over the years. It used to be the first swim meet of the season. All the swimmers were coming off of a swim-free winter and were out of shape. It was a hoot watching these kids thrash about at that meet. All the parents were relaxed too. The later meets – in July and early August were less fun as everyone VERY competitive, especially the parents.
Now my favourite part of summer is my two coming home from college. Once we get the initial readjustment kinks worked out, it is delightful having them kicking around the house.
Btw – do you ship to Canada?

Hi Kelly- oh yes those hummingbirds are a fun part of summer. Although I haven’t seen too many this year- perhaps they don’t like my cooking! I also enjoy having my kids come back home. Even though they are all through college and moved out, it warms my heart when they all come over.
I’d be happy to ship to Canada.

  8. I think watercolor is such a flowy, intuitive medium….I love the way you let your eyes travel down the river
and get swept up into the flow. Such a beautiful gift you have. Thanks for sharing the beauty that you
    see and bring into being:)

My favorite part of summer is sweet tea after working in the flower garden and the yard on the front porch steps watching it all blossom into these fab shades of green! That moment of knowing your hands and sweat were creative with nature.

Oh…it’s all about the flamingos for me! That would be my favorite, but they are all so beautiful. How wonderful to be able to show your work at a “tea room”….lovely! I once thought I would enjoy running a tea room in conjunction with local artists. Who knows…..maybe once we come off the road an opportunity will present itself. I’m a true believer in “what will be, will be”……

Oh! I would love to win those! My favorite part of summer is camping and spending time outdoors. This summer, I am camping a lot and I am super excited! TOMORROW, I start my very FIRST ever in-person watercolor class! I took one through Debbie Goode online, but this is my first in-person one! It goes for about 6 classes at four hours a class, so I will be doing a LOT of watercolor this summer!
