Thoughtful Thursday…

Thoughtful Thursday…
September 6, 2012 Sue

A short post to share a thought or a quote for the day….

” Everyone needs an identity of their own, not in relation to someone else… someone’s daughter, sister, wife, mother.

” Artist” is mine alone.  ( Janet Badger)

This quote rings so true for me. I finally feel that there is something that belongs to me alone, something that has taken all of these years to become. Perhaps, being the daughter, sister, wife and mother allowed me to finally become the artist.

Do you have an identity that is yours alone??

Great question Sue. For me I’d have to say that writing is finally just becoming my identity after all those years of wishing I could do it.

I so love this. You said so well what I have struggled with saying myself. All I’ve ever wanted is to be “me”. I think because of this…the roles we play in relationship to another are always a challenge for me. So when someone says they are a mother, a wife, a daughter, a boss, an aunt, etc….I always want to say “but who are YOU? That’s what I really want to know.” I love that you are an artist!

Michele, it took so long just to be able for me to say that! Hope I sparked some interest in others too!
