” The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn”

                                     Ralph Waldo Emerson

I can’t believe that a week has passed and once again it is time for Thoughtful Thursday.

This quote from Emerson reminds me that everything starts with one small step. How many times do our hopes and dreams seem too big and out of reach? Do we put them aside as unattainable or move towards our goals by setting smaller incremental steps. We need to eat that elephant one bite at a time.

That one acorn or step will grow into many and become the forest of our dreams.

What was your one small step this week?

The one small step that I’m working on this week is learning how to get out of procrastinating so much. I’m stepping away a bit more from emails and social media (a little elephant size bite) and am working at kicking my procrastination out the window.

That social media giant is a big one to handle! Go slowly!

  2. One baby step at a time……so much peace in that.

Wonderful quote, beautiful thought and painting. I started a run/walk program this week. It’s the Get Running app. for iphone. This is day 3. Not easy but each step gets me closer to my goal. Thanks for this timely reminder. Big things happen one step at a time! ~kathy

Love this post. My small step…starting a class again to help me sort out some of my business pieces as I move forward with my recent project, set to launch 12/12/12. I also got rid of a few clothing pieces – need to keep purging:)

Did I hear a new project?? And how clever- 12/12/12! Can’t wait to hear all about it.

Great post!! My small step for today was writing my sales page for my Chakra Smash Journal Class. So easy to get overwhelmed by all the pieces involved – thanks for the kick start to pick one small step and get it done!!

My small step today was painting the insides of four of my kitchen cabinets. Not so small, actually, but I had to talk myself into starting and once I started I just kept going so I wouldn’t have to take everything apart on another day to do the other cupboards. They look so fresh and beautiful! Love it. Tomorrow I have to give them another coat and then put the shelf liner down. I also get to play with my new toy – a sawsall (reciprocating saw). The guy at Lowes had a gleam in his eye when he said that it was “good for demos”. Yes. YES! I can’t wait to demo the cupboard where my brand spanking new dishwasher is going!

A little off track, topic wise, but those are my small steps to share!

Big job Amy! And creativity comes in many shapes and sizes. Post some photos when you get the cupboards done.

Are we friends on FB? I might post some one there once it is completed! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I love your watercolor of the British phone booths, by the way. I used to live in England and I just love those things. I am sure they are quite antiquated over there by now!

I’ll check out your facebook page and look for those photos.
Those telephone booths really popped for me in the inspiration photo I used, they were a blast to paint. I actually just sold that painting, too! The new owner of the painting told me that they are selling off the old telephone booths to be re-purposed. Not sure what that really means but I would love to see some of them. Maybe a mini gallery would be cool! So glad you enjoyed the painting, thanks

Love the quote — it’s one that I’ve not heard. But so true. I know how easily I can become overwhelmed with things, and this was a perfect reminder for me to take one step at a time. Love your little watercolor.

Ahhh…my small step…to take action to catch up to all those little things I’ve put off. Make a master list so I can find my way through the forest of ‘stuff’. And then cross those things off one at a time.
