Still basking in the glow…

Well it’s July already, we’re halfway through the year and the event that I had been planning for for a year now has come to a close.

And I’m not quite sure what to do with myself! All of the activities that were filling up my days and nights are completed, no more lists, phone calls, emails- that’s it- NADA! I feel so empty… I took all of the paintings down from the gallery and it was a little sad.

We had a fabulous turn out – thanks to all of you who came from so far- I even heard the gallery director say it was one of the best attended events they had, I was thrilled to say the least.

So while my exhibit was on display the Monroe Art Guild was also sponsoring a Summer Art Camp for local kids. It is just one of the many projects they do to bring the arts to the community. Well, once the kids were done with their project of the day they were allowed to visit the exhibit and draw from one of the paintings that they liked. I just have to share with you one of these, it was fantastic and I was honored to have this young artist want to copy my work!

Now that the exhibit is over I’ll be sharing more of the pieces with you all on the blog and website along with the photographs that inspired the paintings that were taken by my daughter.

Till then…   be creative!

I need a name

I’m coming down to the wire now.

Even though this has been a holiday weekend here in the States, I have been working hard preparing for my exhibit in June. I had to be sure that all of the paintings got matted and framed by this weekend since next weekend my daughter will be arriving with her photos and we will then have to get those all framed up.

So, I’ve been cutting, taping and stapling. I’ve gotten cut by glass and stabbed by staples. But guess what- they’re DONE!  Woohoo!

All stacked up!

But now I need your help-  after all of this I just realized that I don’t have a name for one of my paintings and I’m really stuck on this one. I have 20 paintings for this exhibit and some of the names just flowed and were really fun. So maybe I’m just tired.

Anyway, here’s your chance to participate and to help a girl out. Just reply back in the comments- oh the original photo was taken in Greece.

Thanks- and I’ll be sure to let you know what I choose!

Take a peek

Wanna peek??   I know you do!!

Well here is a another piece of a painting that will be in the upcoming exhibit in June.  All of the pieces are coming together to bring an exciting visual exhibit your way. Photos and paintings  from around the world ~ two artists, two perspectives, double the fun!

Hope to see you there ~ Saturday, June 9th ~ Monroe Art Guild

“Over the Edge” Sneak Peek

“Painted Pots”

So, last week I spent some time painting plein aire in a wonderful garden as part of the Monroe Art Guilds fundraiser of local garden tours. It turned out to be a warm sunny day, perfect for painting. Although I did get a bit of sunburn I didn’t mind being out in the fresh outdoor air at all, especially when I spend most of my days inside in an office.

I was so lucky to be assigned to such a beautiful garden, I had so many choices of where to set up and paint. I strolled around the grounds and took some photos, perhaps I can use for future paintings and then I settled on a grouping of pottery and plants. I knew I had a short amount of time to paint, about 2 hours, so I needed to keep the subject matter simple and these pots just glistened in the sunlight.

Bliss

I have been taking this fantabulous ( yes that is a word, at least in my vocabulary), e-course with Liv Lane over the past three weeks on how to build a blog you love.  Oh, the things I have learned! But what scares me is that there is probably so much more out there that still needs to be squeezed into my head. I’m excited though to see where this leads me.

This week Liv started a blog hop where we each list blissful moments in our week. Wow, that’s not really something that I normally think about. Yeah, I’m grateful for all of the wonderful people in my life, but never considered bliss.

But here goes, who knows maybe I will become more aware of all the wonderful blissful moments around me…

1) Super tight hugs from the grandsons- it doesn’t get much sweeter than that.

2) Driving with the top partially down on the Mini, in January ~ gotta love the South

3) Having the best hubby who is remodeling our master bath

4) Getting some time to paint, this is always BLISS !
