If you remember a few weeks ago, I told you about how my hubby was building some extra storage space for me in my studio. He was so sweet but I actually think he couldn’t understand how I could work in a messy environment. But for me, I just have to see and be able to reach all of my supplies.

Well, it was a little crazy for a couple of weeks- trying to get a couple of paintings finished while having all this new storage being added but a girl can’t do any complaining now can she.

But since a lot of you had been asking to see photos of the new space I wanted to share some of them with you.

Studio 4Studio3

I got some great open shelving for my art books, and journals. I also purchased a couple of storage baskets for magazines and my matted prints. Leaving a lot of the shelves open still gives me the feeling that I can see what I’m looking for but in a more organized fashion. There is also a space for frames to be stored under the mat cutter, with open frames hanging above.

Studio 1

We moved the large bulletin board above my painting area and I purchased a really cool screen at an antique market that I also hung on the wall so that I can hang paintings in progress.

I’m totally loving my new space! Now if I can only keep it organized….

Janice, it’s a decent size that was an extra bedroom in the house. Once the kids moved out I took over!

Fabulous space! It makes my heart sing to see an artist with their own room, and with a window with light! I love the whole framing storage area, great job. And it is so wonderful to have a supportive partner, they are hard to come by with. Congratulations!!!

Hi Dawn, I’m mainly self taught, I studied art in college but that was many years ago. I am continually learning and working on my painting. I love to take workshops and my bookshelf is full! It is a lifelong journey. Keep at it and enjoy the process along the way.

What a great job your husband did on your studio. I particularly love the bin storage that appears to be hanging on the ceiling on the left of the door. I love to use every nook and cranny and this is such good use of the space and it’s really good for storage. You are a lucky woman. -M

Mary, you’re so right, I am lucky to have a great Hubby. He really looks out for me. All of that storage was his idea. I have to give him the credit for that!! But I love it of course.
