Rhythm of the Seasons

" The Rhythm of the Seasons"“The Rhythm of the Seasons” © Sue Grilli

There seems to be something so rhythmical of the changing of the seasons. It happens at just the right time each year whether we want it to or not. The trees put on a show of their own in the Fall, with all of the deep warm hues of orange, red, rust and purple.

It’s an artists dream to paint in the autumn of the year.

I could sit outside each day and attempt to capture a different angle or view of a group of trees, each day the colors changing  and presenting a new challenge.

The photo above is a small painting called a ATC ( Artist Trading Card) that is 2. 5 x 3. 5 inches.  I am part of a group of artists that creates and trades these cards each month. Our theme this month was “nature” and what better expression of nature than the beautiful autumn colors.

It’s so true that there seems to be a rhythm to the changing of the seasons… just like the seasons of our life. I love your watercolour print Sue. It’s nice and bright just like our trees not that long ago before they shed their leaves.

Ahh- I wonder if I am in the Autumn of my life??? Rich in warm glowing colors!! Ha! We are a bit behind you here in Atlanta so our leaves are still on the trees and we can still enjoy the beautiful colors for a bit longer.

Sue, What a happy use of color! Yes, I agree the seasons happen at the right time “whether we want it to or not.” And re your last comment, “rich in warm glowing colors,” a cozy and/or exciting place!

Someone else said it but when you are active in your art all the colors are more alive, you notice things more, you hear all the sounds…it is so true. June Maddox

Hi June! Thanks for stopping by- what a marvelous saying and I agree wholeheartedly!! The more involved I’ve been in my art the more alive I feel! Thanks for sharing that.

    Hey Sue,

The ATC. That is cool. A woman in my art group had some of those. They were beautiful. Kind of a fun idea too.

Hi Amy, good to see you! The ATC’s are fun and a bit challenging too since they are so small. I enjoy working on them since they fit the short amount of time I have to work on my art during the week.

This is beautiful ! Love that you have a theme to help guide you with these little works of art.
Trading them sounds like a great idea .

Love your little picture, and subject. And what a great idea to have a theme. I use my little swatches of watercolor paper to insert in my Art Journal because they add a punch to otherwise not very water friendly paper.

Sandy, thanks for your comment! what a great idea you had to use swatches of watercolor paper in a non-watercolor paper journal!
