Painting Challenge – Day 5 – Little Yellow Cottage

Painting Challenge – Day 5 – Little Yellow Cottage
September 6, 2013 Sue
"314 West Highland"

“314 West Highland”
Watercolor 5 x 7
$100

This local home was just begging to be painted- quick and on the spot. I used pen and ink first to sketch out the house and get the details in. Then came back in with some simple watercolor washes to give it color. I find that not all paintings have to be labored over, in fact the ones that happen with spontaneity come with a freshness that you just can’t duplicate. In fact ,in this case I made a last minute decision to change the color of the house to yellow from white, why you ask ? I just wanted to!

This post is part of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge with Leslie Saeta. Check out her blog here to see some of the other 300 artists participating in this event

Michele,I’m so glad that feeling came through in the painting. That’s just how I felt when I painted it!
