My New Toy

My New Toy

Ok, I admit it – I’m a art supply junkie. Going to the art supply store is like being a kid in a candy store. It is so hard to focus on what I actually went in the store for to begin with. All those bright sparkly supplies just staring at me from the shelves. Buy me, buy me!!

Well, this is my newest find. Although it was not from the art supply store but rather online at It is a round watercolor palette and if having 64 wells isn’t impressive enough, it spins too! Oh my! No more reaching over the table to get the color I want. Thanks to Danielle Donaldson who suggested this palette, I’m loving it.

Each one of the wells holds a tube of .5ml of paint, which works out really well. I can put the all of the paint into the well and then not have to store half used tubes of paint. And if you paint with watercolors you know that these paints last for quite a while.

As I was filling each one of the wells I realized I would need to find a way to label them in order to distinguish some of the colors from each other. So out came the label maker – and yes I do have one in answer to all those who think I’m not organized, ha!

I put the name of the paint on each label and listed on two lines so that the print was really small. In addition to that though I wanted to know what brand of paint it was. I use several different brands including Windsor & Newton, Maimeri, Daniel Smith and M.Grahm. I love trying out different brands to compare and see which I like best. So I also wrote with permanent marker on the side of the wells the name and brand. Each well pops out so that it can be replaced or moved around the palette.

Needless to say, I’m so excited about using my new palette. Be on the look out for some new paintings come from these luscious colors.

If you have any questions about this type of palette please let me know, I’d be happy to answer.

I’ve seen this palette as well on Danielle’s site and am intrigued. Unfortunately, I do not have the space for such at the moment but I’ve been tempted. 😉 Love your way of organizing. Look forward to seeing what you create with your new inspiration. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much for stopping by – I know this palette does take up a lot of room on the table but I just couldn’t resist!
