I’m not messy…

I’m not messy…

Im  CReAtiVe !

I’ve had a button with this saying on it for years now. And I think it fits me perfectly.

It gets me out of all sorts of jams. No need to worry about someone dropping in at the last minute… don’t mind me I’m just creative!

Now, most of my house is pretty neat ( note the term, most). But my studio on the other hand is a different story.

For whatever reason the creative side of my brain likes to see all the pretty colored paints and paper. Different brushes I could use. Books that I might need to reference, completed projects showing a job well done. All sorts of paraphernalia pinned up on the bulletin board as inspiration. I just need it all at an arms length reach. It seems if I put it away, no matter how organized, I can never find what I am looking for.

Now, my hubby, I just don’t think he gets my creative genius. And being the good soul that he is, he is always trying to help me out. So this past week he had some time and decided to help get my studio organized.  ( probably for the upteenth time!)

So, I’m getting a whole new countertop with drawer space- you know I’ll fill those up in no time. And then a double stack of  open shelving. I liked the idea of the open shelving, that way I can see everything! Maybe I’ll put stuff in pretty boxes.

Perhaps this time I can keep my “Creative Clutter” to a minimum.

I’ll share some photos once it all complete and at least the Studio will look good for that!

Bahahahahaha…your work space looks like my shop’s office and my dining table! I always breathe a sigh of relief when I see someone else’s “messiness” because then I know I’m not alone and it’s not an anomaly – it’s my version of normal that someone else shares!

Sue, You’ve made me think about my studio. Parts of it are cluttered and parts of it are quite neat. But it’s MY space, and that’s important. And for me, it’s SACRED space. I’m so grateful to have a space like this.

      Janet,
You are SO right! I too am soooo grateful that I have this space to be creative in! I totally left that part out of my post, thanks for reminding me!

Superb. I would have to agree that creative and messy do often coincide. I found the book, Clutterbusting, to be very helpful if actually do want to get rid of stuff!

My previous comment got dumped. I just was saying that I agree with you that creativity and mess seem to go together a lot. I found the book Clutterbusting to be really helpful if you want to get rid of stuff.

Hi Amy, I found you!! Thanks for stopping by. I might have to check that book out or perhaps I should just download it so I don’t clutter any more than I need to!! Thanks for the tip.

Love this post. For me clutter is usually piles of something or other and if I allow it, then it can easily overwhelm me. I’m excited for you to be getting some new things for your creative space. Can’t wait to see it.

Thanks Michele- I’m not sure how to post a picture as a reply here so I might just have to add another post for it. I had gotten it from Don Getz during a workshop I had taken with him several years ago. He is a great artist and I learned a ton.

Send your husband my way!!! I’m not sure I could clean things out enough to put in a new counter. It looks great — and I’m sure you’ll have it “creatively” organized soon. Lovely blog.
